Limitations

The standalone version of SLIMS is mainly limited by the total amount of data that may be stored.  On a 32 bit machine, the storage is limited to database sizes of about 2-3 gigabytes.  This should be enough for several years of screens from most laboratories.

SLIMS will provide external utilities to compact the database and archive older results for the standalone version as well as tools to import the SLIMS data into a standard database such as MySQL or ORACLE for the multi-user version.
